How can I keep my candles looking their best?

Candles will discolor or fade when they are exposed to intense light for extended time periods. Do not display your candles in direct sunlight or fluorescent lighting. Wax will soften in temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Store your candles in a cool, dry place.

How can I remove candle wax from fabric?

Consult the laundering instructions provided by manufacturer of the fabric. Professional cleaners are valuable sources of information. If attempting to clean the item yourself, it is important to allow the wax to completely harden. Once hard, gently chip away the wax from the fabric. After most of the wax has been removed, run hot water through the fabric. Citrus or oil-based cleaners are the most effective in removing stains.

Can my jar be refilled?

Glass weakens as it accumulates bumps and scratches from use; therefore we do not recommend refilling the jars for re-use as a candle. If your jar is empty and you wish to re-use it for other purposes you may remove the metal wick base by pouring in enough rubbing alcohol to cover the base and allowing the jar to sit for a few days. It should soften the glue and release the base.

Do you recycle empty jars?

The Barn Candle Company does not accept jars for recycling but most recycling agencies will accept empty jars.

How often do you recommend the wick be trimmed?

We recommend you trim the wick every two hours for optimum performance.
